A Design A Day \\ Color Blockin’

08.16.2013 | Friday

New series alert. And I’m excited. A Design A Day is much about a personal challenge to myself. To keep learning, keeping doing and keep making. It is going to be a challenge, but I know that posting these each day will hold me accountable to do something every single day. And doing is the best way I know how to learn.

It might be downloadable and it might not. It might be me playing around with something that has already been designed, or it might be something new. Who knows what will happen, but I’m excited to share my process. I’m going to suck for a while peeps, so be prepared.

Today’s Design: Color Blockin’

w3a3 This actually started as a school assignment (the assignment was on asymmetry). The first iteration is below on the right. When I went back to it, I ended up really not liking what I had. So I used the first iteration to create a set of blocks I’d be happy with. When it came time to add color, (my least favorite thing to do…or rather, I really suck at color) I decided to check out my Pinterest Textiles Board where I found the image below. The colors are based off the photo below.

DESIGN-INSPIRATIONSo there you have it! My first design of the day. This isn’t going to be as easy as it seems!

My design for today might look simple, but it took me some time to get everything just right. It is currently my desktop background and I thought it would look really great as such. See?you-got-this-cinema-displayIf someone knows how to set it up so I can offer free downloads from posts let me know. In the meantime, if you want this you can email me.
